Kairo is a scavenger and researcher living in an anomolous post-apocalyptic world. Although almost entirely dedicated to researching sustainable sources of power and continuing the survival of her fellow man, she is also deadset on finding her brother who went missing when the world went awry.

Personality

Kairo is a habitual overthinker to the point were it is detrimental. Rarely will a plan of hers go awry, but she is never at peace completely - there is a part of her that feels as though she is always being judged by someone no matter what she does. She prioritizes human life above all else. Even when something is extremely unlikely, if she wants to believe something and is given no evidence to the contrary, she will believe it to the grave. She has very little self preservation. She knows almost nothing about herself, as she constantly preoccupies herself with any task she can and never lets herself have fun.

Design

Kairo is light-skinned, lean and average height with slight muscle. She has black, upturned, monolidded eyes. Her face is oval-shaped and she has a flat nose. She has a rabbits' ears and tail. Her left arm is missing from the shoulder down, and in its place is a bright orange, scrap-metal prosthetic arm. Her hair is straight, black and mid-length, cut slightly shorter in the front than it is in the back, with bangs.
She wears a black turtlenecked bodysuit with tank sleeves, very baggy muted greenish-yellow cargo pants, and orange high-top sneakers. She wears a tattered orange scarf that often covers her mouth. Occaisonally, she wears white arm warmers. Her right bicep is bandaged.

Backstory

Kairo lived a relatively normal childhood from her perspective. She had strict parents that adamantly guided her into being a straight-A student. Although she felt she shouldered much more responsibility than she wanted to or should have, she understood that her parents were busy and wanted her to pull her weight around the house - and so she did.
From youth she was very passionate about engineering, commonly taking apart electrical toys to understand how they ticked and buzzed and whirred. She picked this up from her brother, whom she was very close to.
Kairo was 18 when the world ended. Everything was engulfed in a hot flash - not nuclear, but certainly not natural. And then, the world was a desert. On the now-dried ocean floor, she set up a base of operations in an old iron shipwreck. While scavenging, she found someone - Brisket. Kairo took them under her wing and they now live together.

Present

She has stayed in her original base despite small settlements of survivors popping up over time. She hunts for cave systems, the only places that still hold water, and makes batteries using cyanobacteria for other peoples' use. She tries to hunt down her brother, too, but hasn't been able to track him down yet.

Relationships

Falin - Brother

Kairo always looked up to Falin. To her, he was smart and cared very little about what others thought, a trait that she desperately wanted for herself. In what little free time she allowed herself, she would watch him at work.

Hoss - Complicated

They mutually have very conflicted feelings about one another. They knew eachother in high school, and Kairo hated the perceived superiority that Hoss had over her, as someone that was 'naturally smart' and didn't have to work for her position. Kairo intensely dislikes Hoss' eccentricity and views it as a sign of self-conceitedness. The two will butt heads over just about anything. That being said, Kairo also envies Hosses' aptitude at seemingly anything and everything. Also, although she would never admit this, she does find her attractive.

Brisket - Friend

Despite living eachother for around a year, the two know very little about one another. This makes sense, on Kairo's part - she has very little to say about herself. Brisket seems to actively avoid the topic of themself, though. Despite this lack of communication with the two, and Briskets' bombactisity, she cares for them deeply.
